Course Details

his unit of competency specifies the mandatory work health and safety training required prior to undertaking construction work. The unit requires the person to demonstrate personal awareness and knowledge of health and safety legislative requirements in order to work safely and prevent injury or harm to self and others. It covers identifying and orally reporting common construction hazards, understanding basic risk control measures, and identifying procedures for responding to potential incidents and emergencies. It also covers correctly selecting and fitting common personal protective equipment (PPE) used for construction work.

Entry Requirements
  • Be at least 14 years old

  • Have a Unique Student Identifier (USI) – Creating a Unique Student Identifier (USI) is free and will only take a few minutes. You only need to create a USI once and it will stay with you for life. To create a USI, go to Get a USI | Unique Student Identifier

  • Have a valid government issued photo identification card

  • Have access to a PC/ Laptop with speakers, microphone and webcam

  • Have access to high speed Wi-Fi or cable capabilities necessary to research, upload and download documents

  • PDF Reader

  • Hold sound computer skills

  • Have latest operating system e.g. Windows 10, Mac OSX High Sierra, iPad ISO10 or higher

  • Have access to a unique email address. This email address cannot be used by another student as it becomes your unique login.

In order to complete this online course, students will need access to the following:

  • Suitable internet browser such as; Google Chrome, Safari or Internet Explorer

Assessment

Students are offered multiple opportunities to demonstrate their knowledge and skills throughout the course to deem them competency across the unit.

There are 3 components to this program:

  • Theoretical training in the classroom

  • Practical training in the classroom

  • Assessment for both knowledge and skills

This White Card course combines plain English, videos, photos, and questioning to ensure all learners can have the best possible chance at comprehending the required knowledge and skills.

Learning Outcomes

Certification: Once a competent mark is awarded, learners will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry. This Unit of Competency is Nationally Recognised Training from the Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package. Certificates are emailed to students however hardcopy is available for additional fee.

This Statement of Attainment is valid for 60 days only, and will allow the student to work whilst waiting for SafeWork NSW to issue the physical White Card.

Digital white card now available

Following the success of the Digital NSW Drivers licence, the NSW Government is working to digitise trade licences, with the aim of improving customer service, providing convenience and making compliance with legislation easier.

Replacing a white card

Replace your white card online as long as your details have not changed (using Mastercard or Visa only).

You will need to enter the details exactly as they appear on your construction induction card.
